Volkswagen Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car manufactured by Volkswagen since 1974 and marketed worldwide across six generations, in various body configurations and under various nameplates - as the Volkswagen Rabbit in the United States and Canada (Mk1 and Mk5), and as the Volkswagen Caribe in Mexico (Mk1).

The front-wheel drive Golf was Volkswagen's first successful replacement for the air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle. Historically, it is Volkswagen's best-selling model and the world's third best-selling model, with more than 25 million built by 2007.Most production of the Golf was initially in the 3-door hatchback style. Other variants include a 5-door hatchback, estate/wagon (Variant, from 1993), convertible (Cabriolet and Cabrio, 1979–2002), and a Golf-derived notchback saloon/sedan, variously called Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Vento or Volkswagen Bora (from 1979).
The cars have filled many market segments, from basic personal cars, to high-performance hot hatches. Now let’s focus on the new Volkswagen Golf 6.Volkswagen based the latest Golf Mk6 on the existing PQ35 platform from the Golf Mk5. This vehicle was debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The Mk6 Golf was designed by Volkswagen's chief designer Walter de'Silva, with design cues inspired from the previous generations of the Golf, particularly the Mk1 and the Mk4. The design is said to be more aerodynamic, helping fuel efficiency, and is quieter than its predecessor. Following criticism of the downgraded interior trim quality of the Mk5 Golf in comparison to the Mk4, Volkswagen opted to overhaul the interior to match the quality with the Mk4 Golf, while maintaining the same user friendliness from the Mk5. The car will also be cheaper to build than its predecessor; Volkswagen claims that it will be able to pass on these savings to the customer as a result.Volkswagen means "people's car" in German. So is it the Golf still the best selling model, the people’s car?The new Golf is quieter, better built and simply nicer to drive than before. You'll fit your whole family in here and the whole deal is as classless as it comes. It is a very good German quality car.The new Mk6 is in reality a Mk5 with a better interior.

The usual engine range is available in the Mk6, including a new version of the 2.0-litre motor that comes in the new GTI with 210hp and an LSD on the front wheels. The most interesting are the ‘twincharged' (both turbo and supercharged) 1.4-litre petrols. They come in 120 and 160hp guises and are, basically, brilliant. Fast, with a fun power delivery.

This car seems to be boringly good. If you want some enjoyment in your life, buy the GTI. It is the best Golf you will ever drive.Golf is one of the most practical cars in the world. The best for youngsters, mid aged people and retired ones. It is the greatest hatchback car in the world. This car gets a 7/10 for exterior design. For technical design, the Golf Mk6 gets 7/10 but the GTI gets 10/10.Auto Time team declares this as being the car for everyone. The Volkswagen.

2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider.

The car is scheduled to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but the Prancing Horse wanted to release the first salvo of information, together with official photos, well ahead of that. Thank your lucky stars, people.
And now that the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider has officially arrived, the next question that needs to be answered now is when it’s going on sale. Word has it that Europe will get first crack at the Ferrari supercar around spring of 2012 with the US following suit towards the end of 2012.

Exterior and Interior

While most of the car’s appearance looks pretty much the same to that of the hard-top version of the 458 Italia, the biggest difference between the two is pretty obvious: the Spider comes with a retractable roof.

The roof is made from aluminum and was designed to ergonomically fit just in front of the rear engine without compromising both the car’s aerodynamic attributes, as well as the overall performance. With the roof mechanism being as small as it is, the 458 Italia Spider even has room to have a small storage space just behind the two seats of the supercar.
The front of the supercar remains largely untouched, but the rear has been given a few tweaks to work well with the car’s new aerodynamic set-up, specifically in the optimization of air flow towards the cooling ducts, oil cooler, and gearbox. There’s also the addition of an adjustable wind deflector, which has been designed in such a way that the wind doesn’t interfere with the interior cabin of the supercar, making conversations between driver and passenger less of a hassle than it would have been.

In addition to the exterior engineering of the 458 Italia Spider, Ferrari also adjusted the supercar’s engine mapping and suspension damping, as well as re-tuning the engine sound to ensure optimal performance capabilities without compromising the ride experience of the car.
Overall, the changes done on the whole set-up of the 458 Italia Spider resulted in a heavier car - although not by much - compared to the hard-top 458 Italia. The former weighs in at 3,153 lbs compared to the latter weighing 3,042 lbs.

Performance

The engine of the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider is still the same 4.5-liter V8 engine from the hard-top version. The resulting output remains at 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 400 lb/ft of torque at 6,000 rpm mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and electronic differential. The supercar is capable of traveling from 0-62 mph in less than 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph.
The engine also delivers an outstanding power output of 127 HP/liter and 120 Nm/liter and only 307 g/km of CO2 with a fuel consumption of just 13.3 l/100 km.

Pricing

During its official debut in Frankfurt, Ferrari announced prices for the new 458 Spider. In Europe, the drop top will cost € 296,021 (about $408,000 at the current exchange rates). Customers interested can also opt for different packages to boost the car’s appeal: a leather luggage set for the trunk (€ 5.651/$7,900 at the current rates) and a carbon fiber package (€ 11.592/$15,990 at the current rates). The cheapest option is a silver plate priced at € 484 ($667 at the current rates).
